Both the decking and the pergola are equipped with tables and chairs, & potted plants. Parking is alongside the cottage or by the side of the road next to the small private gate.
THE POOLS Both pools are surrounded by large tiled terraces with potted plants, plastic tables, chairs, sun beds and parasols. They are both sized 8m x 4m x 1.4 m deep and have their own pool houses containing the electric pumps, sand filters, time clocks and other equipment. The pool for the main house was built with the house in 1992 but was completely and professionally relined and the sand filter replaced last year. The second pool was installed in 1999 to the same standard. Both pools are supplied with stainless steel ladders, long poles with nets, flexible tubes for vacuuming, kits for checking pH value and chlorine content, professional winter covers with pegs and a bubble-cover for the main house pool to retain its heat in the early Spring and Autumn. Both pools are also fitted with ALARMS meeting the latest French Government safety regulation NF P 90-307, July 2004. The terrace to the Main House pool is surrounded on two sides by high walls bearing wall lights and on the third side by the dining room. The pool also has an internal light. There is a large, concrete barbeque near the dining table patio. The pool for the apartment has two tall decorative lampposts on its terrace and a wall on its north side, a lavender hedge on its south side, and lawns at both ends.
THE GROUNDS The entire 6000 sq.m. (1.5 acres) is fenced and maintained. Rectangular in shape, approx. 70m x 90m, the properties lie on the northern edge, built into the hillside to provide easy access to the quiet road and affording amazing long-distance views. All the grounds are maintained, with about half left as light open woodland of oak, laburnum and conifer. Near the southern boundary is a long oak bench for quiet shady picnics. This light woodland also includes a children’s swing & hanging bar, a small orchard of apples, cherries, plums and pears, only recently planted, plus a small, productive vegetable patch, currently of potatoes, onions, cabbages, strawberries and tomatoes. There is also a large fig tree and a couple of young walnut trees. Surrounding the houses are three lawns with specimen Albizia and Tamarisk trees, shielded from each other by mature flowering shrubs. The climbing plants on the house walls provide colour & interest.
There are exterior lights all round the villa, 6 outside water taps at convenient points, 3 satellite dishes plus a French radio/TV antenna. Post office mail box on the upper gates. Two sets of black painted steel gates create a through drive in / out.
